Sony CEO nails price point for PS3

In a recent CNN Money article Sony's CEO, Sir Howard Stringer, pegged the price range of the PS3 to be between $300 and $400. This is a far cry less than people had been speculating the machine would ship for.

The funny thing is that despite the article carrying a Pro-Sony overtone the author mentions "high-defintion" DVD which goes to show you while talking about Blu-ray many people will use the proper name of its rival, HD-DVD.

Nobody can speculate how this will affect the Xbox 360. The PS2 had a head start on the Xbox and despite the technological advantages of the Xbox still managed to dominate the market. If that model holds true this time around then we could see Microsoft with marketshare this generation.
