Tricked out Xbox 360

I am sure a few people caught this on Joystiq yesterday, but that is one cool looking 360.

For those of you with 360s I would recommend checking it out as it discusses hooking up additional storage space via USB. Very handy indeed.

Dead or Alive 4 delayed

DOA4 has apparently been delayed in the US as well as Japan. This doesn't bode well for the Japanese launch of the Xbox 360. The game only slipped a week over there, but that could be enough to deter a large number of gamers from picking up the new system. Microsoft desperately needs to get a foothold over there and the delay of a potential system seller hurts those chances greatly.

Since I doubt anyone will be renting out DDR:MM, you should find a friend with a copy, or you could always take a chance on this one if you think you might be into DDR. Just don't blame me if this is your gateway into a plethora of DDR games.

The graphics and computer AI are great, and there are enough missions to really keep your attention. I'm glad that I decided to pick up this game as my first 360 game.

MTV buys GameTrailers.com

It was announced today that MTV has acquired GameTrailers.com. The CEO of GT.com is staying on to run the site/company. They also claim that it will operate as an independent entity. Sure it will.

Xbox 360 Launch

Today is launch day for the 360. Pretzel got his last night and is loving it. There are reports coming in from all over that the lines at each and every store were at least double their allocation of units. Many stores had shipping problems and weren't even getting any core units in.

10 Reasons to wait for the PS3

Yet another website feels the need to force gamers into one camp or another. Heaven forbid someone actually own more than one console. This time it is IGN with the list of gems.

I personally love these:
Reason #1: The Blu-ray Player - This has what to do with games and is a reason to wait in what way?
Reason #7: You Can Still Pre-Order - Ok and?
Reason #8: Hefty Expandability / Connectivity Options - Let me know when the PS3 can interface with a Media Center PC...
Reason #9: Dual-Screen and 1080p Support - 1080p is a bonus, but dual screen? I'd bet the average person won't have 2 tvs for gaming and they sure as hell won't be a pair of 1080p sets.

Parents suing Blizzard over WoW addiction

Yet another case of someone passing the buck. The parents of a 13 year old boy who jumped to his death from the top of a 24 story building last year are suing Blizzard. The legal team also plans a class action suit against "the whole game industry on behalf of other parents."

Nevermind the obvious fact that the kid had to play the game on a computer his parents bought. His parents probably also bought the game for him and continued to pay his monthly subscription rate. Way to go parents!

PS3 Boomerang to stay

Joystiq is reporting that a Sony exec. has denied rumors that a new controller would be revealed at CES in January. The boomerang has to be one of the worst controller designs ever and if Sony has a shred of intelligence they will toss that design out the window and hope it doesn't come back. Bad, I know, but true.

Sony CEO nails price point for PS3

In a recent CNN Money article Sony's CEO, Sir Howard Stringer, pegged the price range of the PS3 to be between $300 and $400. This is a far cry less than people had been speculating the machine would ship for.

The funny thing is that despite the article carrying a Pro-Sony overtone the author mentions "high-defintion" DVD which goes to show you while talking about Blu-ray many people will use the proper name of its rival, HD-DVD.

Nobody can speculate how this will affect the Xbox 360. The PS2 had a head start on the Xbox and despite the technological advantages of the Xbox still managed to dominate the market. If that model holds true this time around then we could see Microsoft with marketshare this generation.

EB Armed Robbery

Apparently one antsy "gamer" got a little eager to play the new Xbox 360 and decided that stealing a pair of them at gunpoint was the smart way to release that tension. The consoles have been recovered and the suspect will no doubt miss any midnight launch parties happening tonight.

CSI: Miami

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but tonight on CSI: Miami there will be killer video game junkies mowing down citizens of Miami. It should prove to set back our fight against the stereotype at least a year or so. Way to go network TV writers!

NES MP3 Player

Joystiq is carrying a story about a guy who turned a vintage NES controller into a fully functioning MP3 player. Pretty slick if you ask me.

Kevin Bachus Leaves Infinium Labs

To nobodys suprise Kevin Bachus has left Infinium Labs. You might recall that once upon a time IL had convinced everyone they were going to try and bring a gaming console to market called the Phantom. The product couldn't be more perfectly named. Aside from a single E3 appearance, no product has ever made it anywhere near a retail outlet.

Get in line

I would be very suprised to not see people standing in line already at local stores in an effort to score one of the few Xbox 360s available either at midnight or first thing tomorrow morning. I wish everyone who goes that route a lot of luck. Don't forget your blankets or your GBA/DS/PSP because it is going to be a long wait.

On an unrelated topic, I made a few slight changes to the site this morning. I changed our urls from /reviews/# to the format I use at Movie Thunder of /r#.html I think it makes things a little easier. You will probably see a mix of the two as I parse the code and change them all. Rest assured I won't be killing the old links. We will simply have duplicates for now.

Fans of Katamari Damacy will undoubtedly find themselves enjoying this one. Skeptics should probably check out the original Katamari Damacy to see if this will appeal to them.

With that said, this is a definite rental since the change in gameplay can be devastating to purists of the Dynasty Warriors line, but can be equally appealing to gamers that had not otherwise considered the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

In a world with a lot of cookie-cutter RPGs, Romancing Saga is a breath of fresh air. It's worth a rental if your wary, but a purchase if you're a fan.
